"Picture Me Reading Favorite Bible Stories!" introduces children to Old Testament Biblical figures from Adam and Eve to David. The text was written by Marlys Isaacson, Ph.D., and illustrations were provided by 12 year old Audrey Isaacson. The overall readability level of the book was determined by use of the Spache Readability Formula to be 2.2. However, the unique way of beginning with mostly Dolch Sight Words, to be taught by using "Picture Me Reading Dolch Sight Words!" flash cards, and progressing to include more and more non-Dolch words and optional phonics activities with each lesson, ensures that the most inexperienced beginners can master each lesson successfully from the beginning and go on to complete the book. At completion (63 lessons), it is expected that the skills will have transferred so that readers will be competent to read most material at the beginning third grade level.
